Charlie's Blessing

Yesterday, Tony blessed Charlie in Church.  It was so sweet and of course I cried.  This little guy is sure special and we love him so much!

Family

This last weekend we had a lot of family come into town for Charlie's blessing.  The weather was beautiful and the faces even more so!  It was wonderful to see everyone!

Alaina turns 4!

On Sunday we celebrated Alaina's 4th Birthday.  This year she got a big girl bike, helmet, an art kit, and a new jacket.  She's was out practicing riding her new bike at least 3 or 4 times yesterday.  She's getting pretty good too!  Of course she and Carson dove into the art kit as soon as they could.  For dinner as per request of Alaina we had Spaghetti, French Bread, and Grapes.  Her cake was a race car cake, again per request of Alaina.  I did it in purple so put some feminine flare into it.  It's interesting how much this birthday contrasted from last year which was all princess and girly.  This year not so much.  But that's how Alaina is.  She's very girly and high maintenance sometimes and very tom boy and rough and tumble at others.  We love her so much!

Alaina

Alaina looked so cute today that I just couldn't resist taking a few pictures of her.  We didn't dress her up for any special reason, she just wanted to have her hair curly, her nails painted, and so forth.  Tony said today that she'll be high maintenance when she gets to be a teenager.  I think I have to agree with him.

A New Dresser

When moved to our new place it was in the midst of a rain/wind storm.  The wind came up and blew over our mattress and knocked off the dresser that we were using for Alaina and Charlie off the trailer.  It smashed apart and we now have a bunch of drawers and boards that used to be a dresser.  So we have been on the hunt for something to replace it.  Tony and I had searched for something used, but we really didn't find anything.  We really didn't want to spend the money on a "piece of crap" from Walmart or Kmart that wouldn't last.  We found this beauty at the local furniture store for $200!  It was originally much more.  The first one we bought was in a box and once Tony and I got it home and into the house we discovered it was cracked and coming apart down the whole left side.  That what we get for not taking it out of the box before taking it home.  When we took it back we discovered that the only other dresser like it was cracked too!  I was so disappointed.  It's not very often that we get nice things like this and I was excited to have a place for our cloths.  So, the furniture store had a dresser shipped in from Blackfoot and it was in beautiful condition.  Last night Tony and I brought it home.  Of course we decided to give our old dresser to Alaina and Charlie and took the new one for ourselves.  I have plans to refinish the old dresser to get rid of the drawings on the side by our children and the outdated style of the dresser.  I love walking into our room and seeing this beautiful piece of furniture!

Glasses for Carson

A few weeks ago I took Carson to the eye doctor for a check-up. Along with the dentist and the doctor for back to school check-ups. Last year he was border-line in need of glasses. We weren't as lucky this year. The eye doctor said he had to have glasses. Carson's excited about having glasses, but we'll see how long that lasts. Yesterday we picked them up and he's managed to go 16 hours without breaking them. Of course he was asleep for most of that time. Today was his first day at school with his glasses. We'll see what kind of condition they're in when he gets home. But I must say he looks very grown up!

Sitting Around

Charlie is 5 weeks old today. He seems to get frustrated that he can't do more. He likes to be up where he can see what's going on. The other day I put him in the corner of the couch so he could sit up and see what was going on. He seemed to enjoy it. Also, I can just tell that he's so close to smiling. I can see it in his eyes. I've managed to get a little crooked grin, but no smile yet.
