Jana's Wedding Cake

Well here is the latest cake. All together I spend about 20 hours on this cake for my sister-law's wedding last Saturday. I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out, and thanks to the help of my husband Tony I was able to do the cake without a major melt down. I've decided that I can't do cakes without him. I'm good at doing all the pretty stuff, but definitely need him for the technical end. Thanks honey!

Alaina's "Sleeping Bag"

Almost everyday for the last couple weeks Alaina has been using blankets as her "Sleeping Bags". I'm actually quite impressed at her creativity. She'll take blankets already folded blankets and unfold them just enough that they resemble a sleeping back, but still have a pocket to lay in. Today she even took her nap in her "Sleeping Bag". I just thought it was so cute!

20 week Ultrasound (the real one)

So yesterday we finally got our 20 week ultrasound through my doctor's office, not the hospital. I will say that this experience was much better than a week ago. Our CNM/Ultrasound Tech was great. She explained to us everything that was going on and what every picture was and why she was checking certain things on the baby. Surprisingly the baby was pretty cooperative. Except for once, "he" wasn't in the right position, the ultrasound tech tried to move "him" to get a better look, "he" promptly kicked in protest (the strongest kick we've had thus far and it hurt!). If you haven't caught on already we are definitely having a boy. We are very excited to be welcoming another little guy to our family. Not that I have anything against girls, we just are glad to have a break from the daily girl drama episodes with Alaina. We were also able to get a definite due date (finally) which is August 2nd. But I wouldn't be surprised if this little guy makes an appearance the last week of July. That's if he follows suit with his older siblings. I was also able to find out what's been going on with my heart. I've been having irregular heart rhythms and my heart seems to be working extra hard all the time! I'm exhausted and out of breath all the time and I was starting to get worried. Our CNM explained that my heart is working extra hard right now and that's because my blood supply is almost doubling right now. That my blood is beginning to thin out and that's why my hearts been acting the way it has. She said is was completely normal and to not worry about it. My mind has been put at ease about this baby and this pregnancy. I will certainly say that this pregnancy has been different from my previous two. Maybe it's because I'm home and notice everything more or maybe it's just because this little man really is his own person and is already making it known. Anyway we're nearly halfway through! I'm immensely enjoying not throwing up and feeling the baby moving and kicking on a daily basis. I'm growing more and more each week and finally gaining weight (pregnancy is the only time I'm glad about weight gain). So for me the next 20 weeks will probably crawl and go quickly for everyone else, but that's the way it goes I guess.

Here is our little guy all curled up in a "pretzel" as Tony likes to say.
The "boy" parts.
And a beautiful profile picture.

Scare, but all is well

On Friday we made a trip to the Hospital after I started bleeding. Needless to say that I was really scared. After some tests and an ultrasound everything check out and the baby was totally fine. This news brought great relief to us and everything still seems to be fine. On Friday I have a doctor's appointment where they'll do another ultrasound to make sure everything is still ok. The good news is that with the ultrasound we found out we're having boy. We're excited and am glad this little guys seems to be strong and stubborn, but he is a Foster after all.

Way to go Carson!

Carson just did his last unit assessment in school and got the highest score possible! You can say this Mommy was pretty proud.

Mommy, Look What I Made!

Last week my creative juices started flowing after a Relief Society activity. I found this fabric on sale and used a pattern I already had. I was a little nervous about taking on a project without my mom to fall back on if something went wrong. But I was able to make the entire dress and even put in the zipper all by myself. I must say that I think it turned out pretty darn good and was quite impressed with myself. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you just give yourself the opportunity. Might I add that I was missing a page of instructions and was still able to sew this dress for Alaina without many mistakes.
