Our Cooking "Adventures" while Camping

This camping trip we tried some different cooking in the dutch oven and on the fire. Some were a success. Apple pie, monkey bread, ground beef cooked in peppers. One was not, muffins cooked in orange peels. By the time the muffins were done all the way through it was too burned to eat, oh well. Overall we ate pretty good!

I promise I didn't spend the entire camping trip sitting around.
Getting the coals ready for Monkey Bread.

The finished product. I was quite pleased with the result. Tony is the dutch oven expert in our family, but I did this one.
Dinner one night was meat cooked inside pepper over a fire. It was pretty good.

Memorial Day Camping Trip

Even though the weather was less than desirable Tony, the kids, and I went camping. We braved wind, rain, and cold temperatures that probably never made it above 45 degrees. But we did our best to make the trip enjoyable. We arrived at a campground called Warm River, which is less than an hour from Rexburg, on Friday night. Tony and I kept commenting on how nice it is to have all this access to the camping and fishing so close to us. Our site was right on the Warm River. I always love camping near water. Friday was mostly spent just setting up camp and so on. Saturday we enjoyed the best weather of the entire weekend. Tony spent most of the day fishing along the river. He hooked a few, but weren't able to bring them in.

Sunday was pretty rainy and cold so we spent the afternoon driving around the area exploring and seeing what we could find. We definitely spotted some areas we'd like to come back and visit when the weather is nicer.

Monday we mostly spent the morning packing up and getting ready to come home. Thankfully we made it home before we it started hailing and such. So ultimately we had a good time spending time together and not so much the weather, but as we like to say, "It was an Adventure!"

The Joys of Parenthood

At about 12:30 last night Carson came and knocked on our door and said the words every parent loves to hear, " I threw up in my bed." As Tony and I both grown and crawl out of bed we are met at the kids bedroom door first and foremost with the smell. The smell that tells you, "You'd better get ready, because you're in for some fun!" I have kind of a weak stomach anyways, but pregnancy doesn't make it any better. I immediately had to leave the room to catch my breath. I repeated this process about three times before I could stand to go investigate how bad it really was. Next, was the sight. Carson was not kidding when he said he'd thrown up. It was everywhere! I will spare you the groosome details, but lets just say that it took us about an hour to get everything cleaned up and 4 loads of laundry. I was so glad that Tony was there to help with the clean up. He tied a bandanna around his nose and mouth so he could stand going in the kids room, which I have to admit was a good idea that I probably should have done also. He hates throw up even more than I do, so the fact that he was right in there with me helping to clean everything up was wonderful...even though it meant throwing his back out. When this happened I thought to myself, "Great, what else is going to happen? Am I going to go into labor? It would definitely add to the excitement of the night. Not!" Well, now that all is cleaned up, laundry is being done and pillows and mattress pads are drying I can say that Carson seems to be feeling fine this morning, Tony's back is sore, and I'm super tired. I will definitely try to take a nap this afternoon.

New Shoes

Look at these cute shoes I got for my little sister Hannah's wedding! I think they are super cute, and I found them at the first store I looked at! I love shopping like that!

New Dresses for Alaina and BreAnna

I'm going to be making matching dresses for Alaina and her cousin BreAnna for my little sister's wedding. I'm pretty excited to get started on them. I found an adorable dress pattern and fabric. They are going to be so cute! The best part is that with coupons I got all the materials for both dresses for $25!

Carson Graduates....well from Kindergarten anyways

Today Carson's school held a little program for the Kindergarteners. They sang a few songs and each child read a short story they had written. Of course Carson's story mostly had to do with how much he liked recess. I am sure proud of our little guy and can hardly believe we almost have a big old first grader!

28 weeks

I've hit my 3rd Trimester!!!!! I'm so glad to be in the home stretch. This week I had my 28 week check-up which included a glucose test and a Rogam shot. My sugar and iron levels are good, I'm measuring on schedule, the baby has a strong heartbeat, is head down, and very active! For those who don't know what a Rogam shot is, I'll explain. Rogam is a shot they give to women that have negative blood, like me. I have 0- blood. This shot prevents my body from developing antibodies against a positive blood baby in the future. For example since Carson is B+ I had to have this shot so that when I got pregnant with Alaina, who is also B+, my body wouldn't attack her and cause a miscarriage. It's a big shot that hurts and leaves me sore for awhile afterwards. They give it to you in the butt at 28 weeks and after delivery. Ah, the joys of pregnancy! I would be lying if I said I feel great all the time...because it simply is untrue. I've already gained 30 lbs (yuck). I'm hungry all the time, but rarely find anything that appetizing, other than sweets, that is what explains the weight gain. I have heartburn, but not as bad as with Alaina and usually only when I wait too long to eat. I'm starting get short of breath and have a hard time getting comfortable, especially when I'm trying to sleep. But I'm not throwing up and that is always a blessing! We are all very excited for our little baby to come and bless our family.

Mother's Day

This year Mother's Day was very low key. I received my gifts earlier in the week by both Tony and Carson. Tony picked me up The Hunger Games on CD. I haven't read these books, but I hear they're really good. I can't wait to start listening to them. Carson on Saturday morning woke me up to give me his gift that he made at school. I have to admit that it was very sweet. He made me a candle with crayons inside it, with a very sweet tag. I loved it! I don't think I'll ever burn it, just because it was just so sweet.

Accessories

Carson has a car track that the kids like to sometimes make crowns, necklaces, and belts out of. As you can see it is quite the fashion statement.
